Three Misunderstandings in the Selection of Solid State Relays
Misunderstanding 1: Solid state relay is a complete AC contactor;
Answer: a: Solid state relays have no auxiliary contacts
b: The solid-state relay will generate heat when it is working, and it must be used with a radiator. For high power, fan cooling or water cooling is required.
Misunderstanding 2: The identification current of the solid state relay is the actual working current;
Answer:
a: The solid state relay needs to leave a margin when selecting the model
b: Option formula
①Pure resistance is 2.5 times, actual current (A) × 2.5 = solid state relay current (A)
②7 times of inductive load, actual current (A) × 7 = solid state relay current (A)
For example (resistance): the customer needs 50A, the formula is: 50*2.5=125A, it is recommended to buy 150A or above.
For example (perceptual): the customer needs 50A, the formula is: 50*7=350A, it is recommended to buy 350A or above.
Misunderstanding 3: The safe service life is 6 years, that is, the product will be automatically damaged after 6 years;
answer:
a. The service life of 6 years is the safe replacement cycle established by the engineering department
b. After 6 years, the product is still intact, but the safety cycle has passed.
Reminder:
1. The solid-state relay generates a lot of heat. When the load current is greater than 10A, it needs to be used with a radiator. Apply thermal grease between the solid-state relay base plate and the radiator, and add a fan for forced cooling above 60A.
2. In the closed state, there is an off-state leakage current ≤ 5mA, which is not applicable to special scenarios. Please purchase with caution.
